Bastrop High School Dance Department
The Bastrop Dance Department is open to all students, regardless of previous training. Novice dancers and skilled dancers alike will find a place in the dance department. We offer four years of dance training: Level I - IV as well as PreDrill. Students can earn P.E. or fine arts credit for successful completion of the dance course. Dance classes cover jazz, ballet, tap, modern, contemporary and hip hop styles along with a variety of general health, fitness and wellness concepts. All students perform in our Winter Showcase and the Bastrop HoneyBears Spring Show.
The PreDrill class is designed specifically for students auditioning in the HoneyBear Dance Team. It will focus on high kicks and jazz technique for the fall semester. HoneyBear auditions are typically in November. The students will audition for the next year (example: Nov. 2016 will have the auditions for the 2017-2018 school year). You are not required to be in this class to audition for the team, but it is highly recommended. You also aren't required to audition for the team if you are in this class. Once auditions have been completed, the class will split for the spring semester. All students selected for the team will be in a class together for the Spring semester. All PreDrill students that have chosen not to audition or are not selected will be in a Dance 1 class for the Spring semester.
